why i ♥ summer
with the kickass coffee they serve up at the cafes over here, it's not easy to keep away from them even if i wanted to. there's no starbucks or large coffee-mogul establishments i need to consciously avoid, so anywhere becomes a place for great coffee. except they don't really do ice-blendeds the way i like 'em. otherwise, the ice-cream with the coffee is a much-welcomed sweetener during the sultry, lazy midafternoons.
u-picks. mention a pick-your-own farm anywhere and i'm sold. there are rows and rows of strawberry shrubs in the fields, each enticingly heavy with ripe fruit. i have no idea what the management will do if they don't open the fields up for enthusiastic fruit-pickers - they'd go mad harvesting all that fruit! and they charge for picking their fruit too! such dough-spinners these fields of fruit are. i think this is what i want to be when i grow up. seriously.
and i want to have a beach-hut, too. the relatively well-off folks have them. right smack on the beach, with the water a mere 3m away. the brightly-painted beach-huts house anything from deckchairs, a selection of sun-hats hanging on the walls, a bar-fridge, throw rugs, surf boards... you get the idea. so i'm wondering if i could, in future, eschew the luxury of "landed" property for a house built [foolishly] on sand.
long live summer!

Jealous! Jealous!
tym: don't be. this weather won't last much longer, and soon it will be back to rainy windy gray days (which aren't half bad when one's in the appropriate mood!).
twit: yeah! you should! too bad that in singas, you can only pretend to at the supermarkets! buy some home and hang them on a shrub/tree to re-create the experience! :D
sorry for the sarcasm. you should come over to aussie for handpicked fresh produce! or i think malaysia might have some to offer too.
ah, wat a leisurely life.
Mmmm...I remember the ice cream with coffee. Much yumminess...
I can see you're back in Melbs *grin* welcome back =)
ooh, and summer's the season for yummy white peaches and nectarines too! Been eating them non stop since January, try getting them at Vic mart, so fresh and sweet and juciy!
where are you looking to stay? city? carlton? lotsa people are looking now, thats the trouble. Am putting up a friend who's also looking for a place and its been so discouraging for her.
pink: yup. life is sweet. :D yours too, eh?
maoie: y'know what i loved most when you were here (besides you, of course)? the MULLED WINE!!! that was yum!
adinahaes: been stuffing myself silly with peaches (i love white ones too!) and nectarines and strawberries and wine too!
actually, i'd have liked to stay in carlton (the flatmate wants to stay in the city). but believe you me: i've trawled domain.com and realestate.com.au so often the past week that i could memorise the properties up for rent! but it's been discouraging for me too, with one disappointment after another. so i'm putting up for another few months here at clayton. *sigh*
glad you've got your place, and that you don't have to subject yourself to looking. feb is a crazy month for accomodation-hunting!
